About Me

My name is Tina. Loved ones call me: Teen.
Words are my chocolate.
Music, my caramel.
Photography, my bread.
Girlfriends, my butter.
I celebrate food.
I ask for help.
I interrupt conversations when I get excited.
I laugh, cry and love hard.
I acknowledge the elephant in most rooms.
I fight for the underdog.
I believe in the power of storytelling.
I am:
- A truth-teller.
- A work-in-progress.
- Rough-around-the-edges.
- Wide-eyed, raw and trusting.
I am:
- Working on defining my boundaries.
- Learning that “confrontation” can be a good word.
- Wrecked by injustice directed at women and children.
- Currently rewriting my story…
My word for the year is “leap.” If something scares me, I do it.
Confession: Some girls dream about Manolo Blahniks or their next Hermes bag. Not me. I dream of freshly baked bread, perfectly barbecued meat & steaming bowls of Pho. My dream lover *cue Mariah Carey song* is someone who would read out a menu to me in Barry White’s baritone voice. ha.ha. Everything about food makes my toes curl. The only thing that excites me more than eating food is beautiful pictures of food.
I love:
Family, taking the road less traveled, anything barbecued, strong women, good men, the blues, being mentored, singing, learning new words, strong hugs, investing in friends, good hair days, sitting on a warm sidewalk on a summer evening, bubble tea, climbing into bed after a long day, typography, good design and TED.
I value: Authenticity, learning and love.
